Class observation Report

Name of teacher : Dr T V Bindhu
Class: 8
Subject: Basic Science
Chapter: Solutions
Name of the school: Gvt model boys high school Thycaud

Teacher started the class by touching the affective domain of the children. The teacher enquired about the previous knowledge of students. Those who are answered well is appreciated by the teacher.

Then teacher asked children that whether they know what is lime water is. When teacher asked about constituents of lime water children responded by saying the name of lime, sugar ,salt , and water. so the teacher wrote the compounds of lime water in blackboard . That is teacher wrote the name of water lemon sugar and salt on blackboard

Then teacher rubbed the name of lemon and started to demonstrate an experiment .
teacher took a test tube and add a pinch of sugar in it and mixed it well. while mixing the water and sugar, teacher checked whether the students know the chemical formula of sugar. Nobody in the class was aware of the chemical formula of the sugar. So the teacher wrote the chemical formula of sugar in blackboard and then told child children to recall the formula. One of the student recalled the formula and no one else can recall that formula. So the teacher told everyone to open their book and to note down the formula of sugar.

After writing the chemical formula of sugar and water teacher started to explain about sugar solution in her hand .Teacher provided the concept of solution to the students lecture demonstration method.

Then teacher provided the definition of solution and students were allowed to note down the definition in their notebook.

Teacher asked everyone about idea of homeogenius mixtures. Most of the students in the class responded well for the questions raised by the teacher and those children who didn't get the concept of homeogenius mixtures is given further clarification about homeogenius mixtures.

Teacher collectee the word identity card from the students and using the keyword 'identity' teacher explained the concept of homeogenius mixtures.
Those mixtures was components cannot be identified separately can be called as homeogenius mixture.

When teachers ask to students that what would be the name of mixtures whose components can be identified separately, Student responded with the answer as non homogenius mixtur. Then teacher provided the name heterogeneous mixture.

Then teacher asking students about what is the meaning of CuSO4 solution.
Teacher took the copper sulphate powder in a beaker and explain about the general uses of copper sulphate. Then teacher added some amount of water to the copper sulphate and made a copper sulphate solution.
Teacher asked the students that whether new material is formed or not. Students are responded with 'no'. So teacher consolidated that a solution is that which does not form New chemical product.

Then teacher provided notes about homogeneous mixtures as well as heterogeneous mixtures and students noted down the notes on their science notebook.
Then teacher introduced a new word single phase. Then teacher explain that homogeneous solution is a single phace solution and she asked the students that what would be the name of heterogeneous solution.
Students responded that it may be called more than one phase solution.

Then teacher consolidated the class by writing the blackboard summary.
Summary includes
homogeneous mixture- single phase
Heterogeneous mixtures- more than one face
Solution
Components

Evaluation

In the evaluation phase teacher provided five examples and asked the students to write whether it is homogeneous or heterogeneous solution. Students categorized the examples.
Then teacher distributed sweets to the children. By sharing the sweets students develop sgaemocratic and socializing skills
