Introduction
I planned today's
lesson plan for transacting the content ' Reflection of Light, Regular
Reflection and Irregular Reflection’ in the unit ‘Reflection of Light’ of Class
10. My curricular aim was to enable students to get an understanding about Reflection
of Light, Regular Reflection and Irregular Reflection and apply it on daily
life. My lesson plan has four parts.
1. Curricular
objective followed by the analysis of content, process and evaluation phase of
the topic law of definite proportion.
2. The
transactional phase consisting of the activities and analysis of feedback.
3. Follow
up activities.
4. Blackboard
summary
1.Reflection
on curricular objectives and related contents
The lesson plan was
prepared by analyzing the content of transaction thoroughly. The activities and
the transaction phase were planned according to the predetermined objectives.
The objectives were planned by considering the content, intellectual level of
students and age of students. The required ICT materials were prepared and
collected for the smooth content transaction. ICT materials were also
downloaded from the internet resources. The prerequisite were identified and
written in the lesson plan.
The lesson plan was written well manner but I failed to
write about 2nd law of reflection. The lesson plan contained
strategies and activities which were not fitted for the scheduled time since it
was a lengthy topic. Also the transnational activities were not able to completed
within the available time and time management was poorly done while writing the
lesson plan. The explanation phase of class is failed to include in lesson plan.
Additional strategies should be planned while writing lesson plan, time
management should be improved.
2. Reflection on the transaction
phase
Introduction of the
topic was well presented. It captured attention and arouses interest and
motivation to learn. The affective domain characteristic was evoked and the
introduction helped to link with the contents easily. In introduction slide,
teacher included slides which provided interest and motivation to the child.
The transaction phases a contained video of experiments, image presentation and
some activities. Reinforcement given to
the students was sufficient. Continuous evaluation of the students was well
done. The voice was good and teacher could maintain a better communication and
rapport with the students to some extent. Students should be encouraged to ask
more questions.
The explanation phase
went very poor and teacher failed to explain why a clear of image formation is
not taking place in an irregular surface. The slides used to explain regular
and irregular reflection was not correct and usage of this slide provided
misconceptions in the mind of learner. Additional strategies should be planned
and included in live classrooms since it live classes should focus on firsthand
experience of students. Gro up activities, demonstration, experiments should be
included in further lessons.
The conclusion to the
content was sufficient. Knowledge was constructed by the students themselves.
Evaluation questions were sufficient and could evoke thinking ability in the
students
3. Follow up activities
Follow up activities are given at the end of the
class. Two questions were provided as home assignment to the students. Both slow
learners and gifted students can answer the questions, simple and complex
questions are given t the end of the class. Follow-up activities are linked to the next
class.
4.
Black board skill
Initial blackboard works were not performed. The
contents were well organized and hierarchically arranged and written in
blackboard. The important points were written in the blackboard which helped
students to write it down on their notebooks. Images were given in a logical
sequence but I failed to focus on precision while drawing in blackboard. I draw
parallel lines which seem like non parallel lines. This created lack of clarity
in learner.
Overall
performance
The introduction was
really good and teacher able to establish a rapport with students. The whole class aroused interest and
motivation to learn. Transaction phase was carried out easily at the first half
of class but teacher failed to explain the phenomena of irregular reflection at
the second phase of class. Teacher should make conscious efforts to improve her
blackboard skills. Class room management was good. New strategies to improve
the transaction phase have to be included in future classes. Different class
room management techniques involving first hande experience should be included.
