REPORT ON FIELD TRIP

REPORT ON FIELD TRIP

We started our field trip at 7am on 19/10/2019.
It was a very nice experience to all of us.

We started the journey with a silent prayer at 7am. There were 24 children from the first year and three from the second year, so there were a total of 27 student-teachers with us. Geography sir, Physical Science Teacher and Tamil sir accompanied us.

Our group, consisting of 27 children and 3 teachers, first went to the Aruvikkara Dam. By 9:00 am we reached the Aruvikkara Dam. From there we saw the irrigation project. Two shutters of the dam had been raised at that moment. The whole Trivandrum city gets water from this irrigation project. There was a wonderful park nearby. I saw a few rides in the park working on the basis of Physics principle. We played with it a little bit. Then we left for breakfast at 9.30 pm. After a wonderful breakfast we got in our bus at ten o'clock. In the bus, children were enjoying the journey by singing songs.

Then we headed straight to Koikkal Palace. We arrived at Koikal Palace at 10.30 am. We split into two groups and from there we were accompanied by a guide. Each group was guided by separate guides.
Our guide took us to several places. We walked inside and around of Koikkal Palace and saw many views. We saw a variety of pottery and various kinds of equipments there. We were able to see the tools used by the tribes to produce fire as well as the wooden garments used by them during ancient times. The tunnel we saw there aroused curiosity to all of us. The Guide told us that the terminal of the tunnel was almost ten kilometers away from this place. We saw a lot of utensils, kitchen utensils and accessories related to Kerala culture. There was a large pool inside the campus. We visited that large pool. After taking the group photo from the front of this palace, we headed to our next location at 11.30 am.

From there we headed straight to the Kerala legislative assembly complex. In the legislative assembly complex building, phone as well as any other equipment was strictly prohibited.
We learned about the history of Kerala from the legislative assembly museum. There, we had a guide to explain things. He spoke a lot about the people who had been the Chief Minister of Kerala at various times and about the Renaissance heroes of Kerala. There were so many books about Kerala which aroused curiosity among us. We saw a big fan spinning there. The fuel for this fan is diesel. Another thing that impressed me was the black castle worn by Mahatma Ayyankali. A three dimensional map of the city of Thiruvananthapuram has been given there. That was very interesting.
After that we went to the legislative assembly complex.
We went up the stairs to the seventh floor of the assembly. From there, the guide explained to us about the legislature and its activities.
It was a beautiful experience. The interior of the assembly hall is painted with a special kind of paint. The paint can absorb all kinds of noises in the hall. This paint costs 25,000 per liter.

The assembly building is arranged in the form of an octagon. The Assembly building was constructed in 1998. The foundation stone of which was laid by Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy and the building was inaugurated by KR Narayanan. Until 1998, the Legislative Assembly meeting was used to hold in the secretariat. Helium lamps have been installed inside the assembly hall. These lamps are arranged such a way that it faces upward i.e., to the sky. There is no shade in the assembly due to the special arrangement of this light.

After leaving the assembly, we headed straight to the planetarium.
We had lunch from there after seeing some of the small sights there.

From there we headed straight to the Kuthira Malika Palace. By 3 pm, we arrived at the Kuthira Malika Palace. This magnificent palace was constructed by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal in 4 years. But he stayed here for just seven months. It remained closed about 150 years. Since then, 20 out of the 80 rooms in the palace have been converted into a museum. The remaining 60 rooms are still closed because of the Supreme Court hearing.

After leaving the Kuthira Malika Palace, we headed to the Art Gallery.
We saw many historical images there. We were amazed at the glittering images formed on the conical as well as spherical shapes. After that we went to the Wax museum. We arrived at the Wax Museum around 4 p.m. The wax statues were made by a person named Sunil. There are many statues of famous people in the political and cultural scenario. The student-teachers took photographs of prominent figures like APJ Abdul Kalam, Rajiv Gandhi, Gandhiji, Indira Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sachin, Prakash Raj, Anna Hazare, Narendra Modi and VS Achuthanandan. We spent about half an hour at the Wax Museum.

After that we headed out. We went down to the veli beach. The famous Vettukadu church is situated in the banks of Veli beach.

From there we get into bus at 5:30 p.m. Then we ridded towards Thiruvananthapuram city. On the way we had a small tea and snacks. At 6.15 p. m we reached Thampanoor bus stand.

The field trip was one of the most beautiful and refreshing experience in my life. I will never forget this experience in my entire life. This trip made a lot of sense. This field trip greatly helped to establish a healthy relationship among students and between students as well as teachers.
